Samar Salamé

In Beirut, Toufic Maatouk has been the musical director of numerous projects, among others in cooperation with the teatro dell’opera di Roma, Al-bustan international Festival, Byblos international festival, Baalbeck international festival. He conducted in famous festivals and venues.

He has conducted in Rome the Orchestra Sinfonica “Roma Sinfonietta” (2011), in Russia the St. Petersburg State Symphony orchestra (2011), Tomsk philharmonic Orchestra (2011), St.Petersburg chamber Philharmonic Orchestra (2011), Premium chamber Orchestra (2011).
Toufic Maatouk also performs with the choir of Antonine Univesity sacred religious music for choir and they recorded over 5 CDs.


BiographyBorn in Beirut (Lebanon) in 1978, the Baritone and conductor Fr. Toufic Maatouk begins his studies at the Conservatoire National de Beyrouth. After, He continue his studies at the Higher Istitute of Music in Antonine University (Master Degree), perfected in Italy with Sylvana Ferraro and stephania Magnifico and Caroline Dumas and preparing His Phd in Musicology at the Istituto Pontificio di Musica sacra in Rome (PIMS) with prof. Nicolai Tangari.
 Later he studied conducting in Europe and Russia with such teachers as Alexander Polyanichko, Ennio Nicotra, Marco Berdondini and others.
As a singer He has regularly given concerts in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Dubai, London, Montenegro, Vienna, USA (New York, Los Angeles), and in different international festivals. He gives his “debut” in Al-Ain international festival of classical music (Emirates) in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and after in The Count of Nozze di Figaro, in Al-Bustan international festival of music and arts, Byblos international Festival (Lebanon). He sang with the Lebanese National philharmonic (Lebanon), Warsaw philharmonic Orchestra (Poland), Opera romania tiomisora orchestra (Romania), Armenian philharmonic Orchestra (Armenia).

In 2005, he has been nominated the director of the school  of music in Antonine University (Lebanon) where he conduct the choir and started a big “tournée” in Cyprus, France (Divonnes-les bain, Cannes, Lyon, Nice, Monaco) Italy (Rome), Qatar, United Arab Emirates (Abu dhabi, Al-Ain Dubai,) USA (New york)-Carnegie hall.  In 2010, he has been nominated the choirmaster in the Lebanese National philharmonic Orchestra.
